19.05.2015 | A gala event for the “International Award for Young People – Israel” took place at the Savoy Hotel in London.
The gala was attended by leaders of the British Jewish community as well as in the presence of Prince Edward; who heads the international programme, Mr. Hilton Nathanson; the joint chairmen of the Award;, Mr. Amir Amar; head of AYR, and Mr. Trevor Pears; chairman of the Pears Foundation and a longtime contributor to the programme.
In his speech to the gala guests, Mr. Amar acknowledged the many individuals who contributed to the Award and emphasised the importance of the British-Israeli connection in promoting and strengthening young adults, irrespective of origin, religion or background.
The guest of honour, Prince Edward showed his support for Mr. Nathanson and Mr. Amar, and expressed his continued commitment to the programme and the importance of an Israeli multicultural reality.
A parallel gala event took place in Israel in early May, at the residence of the British ambassador, Mr. Matthew Gould’s. Mr. Gould serves as the honourable president of the association, and together with Mr. Amir Amar, launched the new program “Breaking the Barriers.”
