01.02.2017 | City Court Requires the Tel Aviv Municipality to Seek Court Orders to Obtain Information About Mobile Telephone Subscribers
The Tel Aviv City Court ruled that the Tel Aviv Municipality must seek judicial orders to obtain information about mobile telephone subscribers when enforcing environmental laws. It has previously been the practice that such information was provided under subpoenas issued by city wardens. Partner Communications pointed out that similar requests, when made by the Police and other law enforcement agencies under a different law, were subject to much stricter conditions, and that if city wardens are to be given access to private information at all, such access must be subject to the same strict conditions that applies to other law enforcement agencies, if not more. The City Court agreed.
AYR’s Eyal Roy Sage acted for Partner Communications.
