To celebrate 100 years of industry, the Eilat Conference on Industry and High-Tech, in which 180 manufacturers participated, was held on behalf of the Israel Manufacturers Association.

The conference was attended by President Yitzhak (Bougie) Herzog and several MKs, among whom Michael Biton, Chairman of the Knesset Economic Affairs Committee, Tamar Zandberg, Minister of Environmental Protection, Orna Barbivay, Minister of Economy and Industry, and others.

Mr. Yigal Plitman, former President of the National Labor Court, and currently Special Advisor at AYR – Amar Reiter Jeanne Shochatovitch & Co., was invited as a speaker for the panel on “Issues in the Protection of Privacy in Labor Relations”.

Mr. Plitman reviewed the issue of employee privacy from the stage of recruitment until the end of the employee-employer relationship, including an application to the National Labor Court, and indicated violations of the right to privacy at each stage.

“It is the employer’s duty to ask an employee or job applicant for proof that he has been vaccinated. If the reply is either “I have not been vaccinated” or “I choose not to answer, for reasons of privacy protection and medical confidentiality”, the employer has a justifiable reason not to accept such a candidate for the job. In the case of an existing employee, the employer may take one of the following 5 measures, ranging from mild to serious: finding a substitute job, offering to work from home, taking vacation days, unpaid leave and even dismissal.”
