Adv. Gidon Even-Or, Partner in our Litigation and Dispute Resolution Department, participated in the Dun’s 100 Commercial Litigation Forum, which brought together leading practitioners in the field.
Adv. Even-Or, who heads our firm’s International Arbitration Practice, addressed the impact of the security situation in recent years. He noted that while the vision of establishing Israel as a hub for international dispute resolution and arbitration has suffered a setback, he believes it is only temporary. In more peaceful times, Israel could position itself as an international arbitration centre, alongside cities such as Zurich, Paris and London.
Adv. Even-Or added: “During this period, Israel’s legal community specialising in international arbitration has grown considerably stronger. The number of arbitration proceedings handled by Israeli law firms has increased, as has the level of expertise and professionalism.
A decade or two ago, the number of lawyers handling major international arbitrations could be counted on one hand. Today, Israeli law firms have many excellent lawyers with the expertise to handle such matters.
I therefore believe that, even during these challenging times, Israel’s standing within the international legal community has improved. Israeli lawyers are recognised worldwide for their professionalism, which certainly strengthens our ability to handle cross-border disputes.”
