We, the undersigned, leading lawyers in Israel, are answering  to the call by Tel Aviv University President, and call out to other heads of entities and organizations in the country, both public and private, to join forces and express loudly and clearly at this time, that inasmuch as we may reach a situation whereas the government does not adhere to the Supreme Court ruling, the economy shall go on strike.

This is not a political statement. It is not related to any standing as to the justifiability of the Judicial Reform. It derives from our professional duty as jurists. It is based on the rule of law and the basic concept whereby the government – just like each and everyone of us – must honour the law, of which the official interpreter is the law court, and must therefore abide by its ruling, even if it is not to their liking.
