The actions of Hamas in the ongoing conflict reveal a troubling and deliberate departure from international legal norms, including, inter alia, the misuse of hospital and medical assets, the exploitation of civilians as human shields, the obstruction of evacuation efforts, and the theft and exploitation of civilian resources for its terror activities. These actions violate the fundamental principles of the laws of armed conflict designed to protect civilian lives.

By disregarding these well-established legal principles, Hamas is systematically prolonging military engagements in densely populated areas, thereby placing the lives of innocents in danger.

As representatives of the Israeli legal community, we condemn Hamas’ abhorrent and persistent violation of international humanitarian law. We call upon the international community to join us in unequivocally denouncing these flagrant infractions and holding those responsible to account for their egregious breach of established legal norms.
