Buky Katzman serves as a special advisor to our firm; he has extensive experience in civil and commercial litigation, at all tribunals, both as a representative of international companies in business disputes, and as an arbitrator and mediator in complex disputes.

Buky represents clients in high-profile cases, and has recorded significant legal achievements, including the “Lost Years” rule, a precedent-setting decision that replaced the previous 25-year prevailing legal situation. According to the case law, which was determined by the Supreme Court headed by former President Aharon Barak, the estate of an accident victim is entitled to compensation for the loss of earnings during the years of life taken from the victim as a result of his death.

Buky served as Deputy Chairman of the Bar Association (2013-2015), as a member of the Central Committee of the Bar Association (2011-2015), as a member of the National Council, member of the joint committee of the Ministry of Justice, Supreme Court justices and the Bureau of Examination of the Civil Code and acting chairman of the Advisory Committee for the Selection of Judges of Tel Aviv and the Central District.

Buky is an expert in and is highly involved with the Jewish world, as well as the world of sports, which is a consequence, inter alia, of his duties.

He currently serves as director/partner on the Maccabi World Movement board of trustees, is a member of the movement’s Israeli management and is responsible for the movement’s legal issues.

In addition, he is a director of the International Organisation of Jewish Lawyers and Jurists, a judge on the Supreme Court of the Israel Basketball Association, chairman of the Basketball Association’s regulatory association, a member of the Football Association’s UEFA Club Licencing Committee, and more.

In 2023 Buky was appointed to the FIBA legal committee as representative of the Israeli Basketball Union. As a lawyer, alongside representing leading companies on the Israeli market and multi-national companies, he has represented clients on matters related to various aspects of the sport.

Appointed chairman of the Bar Association Civil Procedure and Evidence Committee, Buky is a lecturer in law at various colleges, a lecturer at seminars and conferences of the Bar Association, a writer in journals and economic and legal magazines, and a legal commentator in the media.
