We were delighted to host the conference “The General Counsel as Risk Manager”, in collaboration with CofaceBDi and ACC Israel, bringing together dozens of senior in-house counsel from many of Israel’s leading companies.
Throughout the conference, we explored the evolving role of the general counsel – from legal gatekeeper to strategic business partner, supporting executive management in decision-making, risk management and the execution of key business initiatives.
The conference opened with remarks by our partner, Adv. Jack Dabby, who drew on nearly four decades of experience as General Counsel of Pelephone and Bezeq International to discuss how the role of the general counsel has transformed over the years.
This was followed by a professional panel moderated by our partner, Adv. Assaf Lapid, featuring Adv. Noam Nativ, General Counsel of ZIM, alongside our partners Adv. Sharon Kohane, Adv. Dana Battat and Adv. Shani Marom. The discussion addressed many of the issues facing today’s in-house counsel, including crisis management, personal liability and legal privilege, employment law risks, and decision-making in complex business environments.
The conference concluded with presentations by Itzik Malik, CEO of Howden Israel, on the personal liability and protection of general counsel, and Michal Zunz, VP Sales at CofaceBDi, on the growing importance of data and business intelligence in effective risk management.
The key takeaway from the day was clear: the role of the general counsel is no longer limited to answering the question, “Is it legal?” It is about understanding risk, managing it effectively, and helping organisations make better business decisions.
We would like to thank all the participants, speakers and our partners for making this event a success.
