The Commercial Transaction of 2027 | A Practical Workshop for In-House Legal Counsel
About Related practices

Yesterday, we hosted a practical workshop at our offices, bringing together in-house legal counsel from leading companies across Israel.

Under the title “The Commercial Transaction of 2027”, we explored the developments already reshaping commercial transactions: AI, data and privacy, regulation, business and geopolitical uncertainty – as well as what happens when a transaction turns into a dispute.

The workshop opened with remarks by Adv. Ofer Filhaber, Legal Counsel at ICL and Co-Chair of the ACC Israel Commercial Law Forum. He reflected on the pace of change in the legal and business landscape and the importance of “taking a moment to reflect on what has changed over the past year and trying to understand where we go from here”, drawing on the practical experience and challenges encountered by in-house legal counsel in their day-to-day work.

Adv. Assaf Lapid, Partner in our Commercial Department, discussed how commercial contracts are evolving from documents that merely record agreements into mechanisms designed to manage change and uncertainty. Adv. Shir Shoshany-Katz, Partner in our Law and Technology Department, addressed emerging practical trends in privacy and AI, highlighting the narrowing gap between legal risk and business impact. Adv. Gidon Even-Or, Partner in our Litigation and Dispute Resolution Department, explored the importance of designing dispute resolution mechanisms at the transaction stage, as well as the impact of AI on litigation and arbitration.

The presentations were followed by an open discussion with the participating legal counsel, focusing on the challenges they encounter in their daily work – from increasingly lengthy contracts and the need to anticipate a wider range of scenarios, to questions concerning legal privilege, data use and AI model training.

We concluded the workshop with a festive toast to celebrate the upcoming Jewish New Year.

Our thanks to ACC Israel and all the participants for a professional, open and, above all, practical discussion. One key takeaway was clear: the commercial transaction of 2027 does not need to anticipate every possible scenario, but it must be equipped to manage change when it comes.
